Halloween Preparations!

| コメント(0)

image_50450433.JPG

Every Year we throw three halloween parties.

One for Hoikuen, Omagari, and lastly Jumonji.

Some may say it's a bit a lot to handle but honestly it doesn't take too much to prepare.

Kids bring food to share on that day so we only have to prepare candies, materials for games, and prices.

We also prepare on what costume to wear, and that's it we are all set!

Next weeks blog will be about this years halloween party.

Please look forward to it! :D

MML Moriai Hamburger Party!

IMG_7420.jpg

On the 20th of October we had our Annual BBQ Party and this years theme is Hamburgers!

IMG_7508.jpeg

It was simple but fun party at MML Moriai. Students and their friends attended the party.

IMG_7507.jpeg

We made burgers from scratch.

They were grouped into four and had to mix and make their own patty, toast their bread, and assemble the burger.

IMG_7505.jpeg

We also had sausages, corn, and fruits.

IMG_7506.jpeg

The students also made their own Tapioca drink.

IMG_7504.jpeg

We played games such as newspaper game

( played in pairs, they have to dance when the music is on and step inside the newspaper when the music stops, then we fold the newspaper in smaller size in each round)

and statue dance ( played individually, the players dance when the music is on and they stop dancing and should not move at all when the music stops and those who moves will be eliminated.)

these games are classsic party games in the Philippines. The students enjoyed playing it.

I hope to see you all in next years BBQ Party again.

Of Stress and Plants

| コメント(0)

We all have different ways of coping and dealing with stress.

Some of us turn to books as escape.

Some of us turns to music for comfort. Some of us turn to dancing, or play sports.

We do things to get rid of our stress and feel a bit better.

IMG_7172.jpg

Chris sensei has an environment friendly way of dealing with stress.

He buys and grows plants.

IMG_7168.jpg

So if something bad happens he tends to buy more plants and it show

just how much stress he's been under, by the growing number of plants in the school.

IMG_7169.jpg

He gets most of them in one hundred yen shops same with the soil that he grows them in and the minimalist looking pot.

IMG_7171.jpg

See, this is a good way of coping and dealing with stress.

It doesn't harm yourself, it doesn't harm others,

it doesn't involve a lot of money, and it is actually very good for the environment.

How about you? What do you usually do to deal with stress?

Hoikuen Day

| コメント(0)

image_50408961.JPG

Hoikuen is a Daycare system here in Japan. Age ranges from newborns to 5 years old, it's where working parents usually leave their kids for care. We have Hoikuen classes twice a month. 3 groups with 30 minutes in each group.

image_50424833.JPGimage_50413825.JPG

This particular hoikuen is situated in a very good environment, surrounded by trees, and fresh air.

image_50435841.JPG

I always look forward to our hoikuen classes, these kids can really lift your mood without them trying.

Once you enter the classroom you are met with sparkling expectant eyes and huge smiles,  beautiful little humans that are eager to learn.

We do greetings, alphabets, shapes, colors, a few songs and dances. Simple things, if you think of it; however, these simple things mean so much to these kids.

You can see it in the way they try their best in class.

Their response fuels me to do better in what I do.

There are these kids, my students that are eager to learn something from me.

IMG_6699.jpg

The best thing is my take away after every class, high fives, huge smiles, and hugs.

I couldn't ask for more, their warmth is more than enough.

Classroom Activity: Puzzles

| コメント(0)

Alphabets, numbers, shapes, animals, and time are few examples of puzzles that the students do.

IMG_6325.jpg

Puzzles are good in developing motor skills, recognition, and cognitive functions and are often used for toddlers and young children.

At first we have to guide them in matching the pieces but as time passes they start to develop recognition and can do the puzzles by themselves and in a faster rate.

IMG_6258.jpeg

Observing the students, I saw that puzzles also help develop focus and patience.

Some students who are too active and fidgety seem to calm down while doing puzzles.

IMG_6260.jpeg

With these observations, I can safely say that having age appropriate and different kinds of puzzle in the classroom is a great teaching aid.
